Step 1: Press the Windows + R keys at the same time to open the Run box. Then, type regedit and press the Enter key to open Registry Editor.

Step 4: In the Value data field, enter 0 in the box and click the OK button.

Then close the registry and check to see if the “msftconnecttest“ issue persists.

Solution 2: Change HTTP/HTTPs Configuration

In some cases, the error is triggered if the default browser hasn’t been selected for the HTTP/HTTPS protocol. Therefore, in this step, you should try to change HTTP/HTTPs configuration. In order to do that:

Step 1: Press the Windows + I keys simultaneously to open the Settings application.

Step 2: Click the Apps option and select Default apps from the left pane.

Step 3: Click the Choose default apps by protocol option.



Step 4: Scroll down and click the Select a Default option.

Step 5: Click the Select a Default browser option for HTTPS and select the browser from the list.

Close the window and restart your PC. Then check to see if the issue persists after restarting.

Solution 3: Reset the Internet Explorer settings

You can also reset the Internet Explorer settings with the following steps to fix the “msftconnecttest” issue.

Step 1: Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options.

Step 2: Click the Advanced tab.

Step 3: In the Reset Internet Explorer settings section, click Reset….

Step 4: Select Reset in the pop-up window to confirm the operation.

Once it’s done, restart your computer and check if the solution works.
